6. Get in/Get out

In this video Cindy is demonstrating the "Get in/Get out" exercise.  This is a general exercise for movement, strengthening and coordination of the arms and legs. This exercise will be done in sitting.

  • Sit up away from the back of your chair with your feet on the floor
  • Firm your stomach, but be sure not to hold your breath

Breaking it down

Legs

  • Raise the leg, moving it out to the side, like lifting your leg out of a car
  • Raise the leg, moving it back in, like lifting your leg into a car

Arms

  • Push the arm out to the side like pushing open the car door
  • Pull the arm back in like pulling the car door shut

Putting it all together - combine arm/leg movements for and increased challenge of coordination

  • Push your arm out to the side as you lift the same leg up and out to the side
  • Pull your arm back in as you lift the same leg up and in

Perform 5 repetitions on each side
