Stretch 4 - Bend and Twist

In this video Becca demonstrates the Bend and Twist.  This stretch focuses on your shoulders and trunk.

Bend

  • Sit up nice and tall, feet flat on the floor
  • Reach you hands up overhead (as tolerated for your shoulders)
  • Side bend to the left, placing the left hand on your chair for stability
  • Reach your right hand over to the left, feeling a gentle stretch along the right side of your body and shoulder
  • Hold for a count of 4-5
  • Return to both hands overhead
  • Repeat leaning to the right side
  • Perform 2-3 repetitions on each side as tolerated

Twist

  • Sit up nice and tall, feet on the floor
  • Reach both hands up overhead
  • Twist your trunk to the left
  • Bring your right hand on the outside of the left knee
  • Place your left hand on the side or back of the chair for stability
  • Gently twist toward the left, looking over your left shoulder
  • Hold for a count of 4-5
  • Return back to center, hands overhead
  • Repeat, twisting toward the right side
  • Perform 2-3 repetitions on each side as tolerated
