In this video Becca demonstrates a Figure 4 Stretch. This stretch focuses on your hips. You may need a "prop" for this exercise such as a foot stool, small trash can, plastic tub.
- Place your container on the floor in front of your feet
- Sit up nice and tall with your feet flat on the floor
- Place your right foot on the container, resting on the outside of the foot
- Use your right hand to push from the inside of your right knee gently down toward the floor until you feel a mild stretch in your hip
- Hold for a count of 4-5
- Advanced stretch position Bring your right foot up, resting the outside of the foot on the top of your left thigh instead of a container, just above your left knee
- Use your right hand to push from the inside of your right knee gently down toward the floor until you feel a mild stretch in your hip
- Hold for a count of 4-5
- Return to your starting position with your feet on the floor
- Repeat on the left leg in initial or advanced stretch position of your choice
- Perform 2-3 repetitions on each side as tolerated
