Foot Placement During Transfers

For this Quick Tip, Cindy demonstrates foot placement for transfers in order to improve safety.

When assisting an individual up from a seated position, make sure to have your feet shoulder width apart.  Instead of keeping your feet parallel to one another, move one slightly back.  This will allow you to be able to shift your weight backwards as needed if the individual stands up easier or quicker than expected, keeping you from getting caught off balance.
