In this video caregivers will learn how to assist an individual, who has a weak or injured leg, in using a front wheeled walker.

Prior to Walking 

  1. Apply a gait belt
  2. Stand on the involved(weak or injured) side if possible

Verbal Cues For Instruction of a "Step To" Walking Pattern with Wheeled Walker

  1. Push the walker forward (about arms length)
  2. Step forward with the involved(weak or injured) leg midway (front to back) into the walker
  3. Put weight through your arms
  4. Step forward with your good leg
  5. Repeat steps above for continued walking
