Cindy demonstrates how to use a standard walker, which may be helpful to an individual who has had a lower extremity injury or surgery and is non weightbearing. This walker is not usually recommended for someone with balance issues, especially with loss of balance backwards.

How to Walk with a Standard Walker

  1. Hold your injured leg up off of the floor, either in front of you or bend the knee bring the foot up behind you.
  2. Move walker forward about arms length
  3. Put weight through your arms as you step forward with the good leg about midway into the walker
  4. Repeat this process as you walk
