In this video Cindy demostrates how to adjust the height of a standard cane and a quad cane.
Standard Cane:
Have the client stand up straight with their arms hanging down at their sides
Handle of the cane should hit them at wrist height
Quad Cane:
Adjust cane for the hand opposite the involved lower extremity by turning the base so that the legs directed straight down to the floor are on the inside by the uninvolved leg
To measure for the proper cane height, the client stands upright allowing their arm to hand at their side
The height of the handle is at the client's wrist level, same as on the standard cane
