Ankle Pumps

In this video, Alex is demonstrating Ankle Pumps.  Ankle pumps assist in preventing blood clots (DVTs) and reducing swelling through the muscle pump action of the calf muscles. Ankle pumps can also reduce stiffness at the ankles.

  • Point your toes down away from your knees
  • Pull your toes up toward your knees
  • Make a nice big movement through your full range of motion
  • You can move both feet in the same or opposite direction. 

Perform 5-10 repetitions, 1-2x/day

The number of exercise repetitions and sets per day are just a suggestion and should be adjusted, as needed, to fit your fitness level and tolerance.
